Selecting The Right Fire Glass Size

by | | 0 comment(s)

Fire Glass also know as Fire Crystals is a glass specifically made to withstand high temperatures without bursting.  The glass is measured by the pound and is fairly inexpensive compared to alternatives.  Fire Glass comes in hundreds of different colors and can be combined with other colors to create endless combinations that can suit any taste.  The only easy decision with Fire Glass is selecting the glass size.

Fire Glass primarily comes in three different sizes (1/4", 1/2", 3/4").  The sizes are measured in inches and refer to the height of the glass before it is broken into pieces.  Each size of glass should be selected based on application specifications.  Below is a breakdown of each size of glass.

3/4” Glass

As the burner gets bigger the BTUs increase and the flame needs more oxygen.  The larger glass size creates larger gaps between glass pieces and allows more oxygen to enter the flame.  The rule of thumb is when you increase your burner or flame size increase your Fire Glass size along with it.
